Hitting a Deadend: Closing Off a Saga

Isometric Forest

Which way do I go now?

This is, for now, the final recount of my Rise of the Runelords campaign. Due to unforeseen circumstances and a lack of time from different parties, I have decided to end the campaign slightly halfway through the second module.

Death is never easy to speak about. A trip to Foxglove Manor and the party saw enough of death for two centuries. What was a structure of wood and wealth was no more than the phylactery of a lich. The pieces of a puzzle explaining the reasons behind murders in Sandpoint and an onset of ghouls across the region.

But the family had many more secrets. The hidden abode of a lich also held a story starting many acres away in the majestic city of Magnimar. A townhouse owned by the Foxglove family there held a secret written in blood by a secret sect; a brotherhood.

An inquisitor equipped with a strange ebony lucerne hammer, a wizard with her rifle and a keepsake from who she thought was a mentor, a witch and her monkey, a stalwart knight of Sarenrae, and a playboy ruffian must still face what lies behind the secret abode of a cult whose aims seek to kill.

  • The stories of the party should not have to end here. This campaign can be picked up by anyone again, if they so wish it, and characters can be ret-conned into other campaigns so long as it makes sense.
  • The campaign also works to lead into a high- or low-level Shattered Star adventure path, intended to be a spiritual sequel of the story barely brushed by the journey made by this party.
