Why Sandpoint: Introducing the Campaign Traits

Sandpoint

The quaint town of Sandpoint

This is part of a series of small posts meant to begin harboring interest for the upcoming GURPS campaign taking place in the world of Golarion. This is also a summarized excerpt from a larger Player’s Guide that will be provided to players once it has been finalized.

The following are a set of traits that have been converted from the associated campaign traits present in the Pathfinder campaign guide for this conversion. While this is not meant to be entirely a conversion of the entire path as is, much of the material from this guide is still relevant.

These are not required but are merely traits that could be added to a character sheet for a certain degree of benefit or definition. Other reasons are allowed for why a character would be in the town of Sandpoint, the same town from the previous Rise of the Runelords campaign I ran. Just make sure to provide insight into a character’s background before the start of the campaign.

Further detail and insight into these traits will be present in the Lest Dispelled Player’s Guide, but take any relevant information from the Pathfinder guide as gospel for now.

Traits

Advantages

Best Friends [0]
You are extremely close friends with Ameiko Kaijitsu or Sandru Vhiski. You must choose who you are friends with when taking this advantage.

Caravan Guard [1]
You have been a guard of Sandru Vhiski’s caravan at some point in your life and became well-acquainted with him. You have a +1 to trained Survival (Woodlands) when in the wilderness.

Current Inhabitant [2]
You live in the town of Sandpoint or a nearby town or city. You must choose a settlement. Treat this as a Reputation +1 (Known Region-Dweller, Coastal Region of Varisia, Sometimes) [2] (B26).

Helping Hand in the Raids [3]
You helped the citizens of Sandpoint deal with the going-ons and aftermath of the Goblin Raids in some integral manner. Treat this as a Reputation +2 (Town Hero, Town of Sandpoint, All the Time) [3] (B26).

Familial Connections [1]
You have a family member in the town of Sandpoint. You must choose a relation. Treat this as a Reputation +1 (Family Friend of a Citizen, Town of Sandpoint, Sometimes) [1] (B26).

Interested in Undead Trouble [0]
Your character is interested in the recent rumors being told about Sandpoint and undead trouble in the region. This could be because of possible glory, adventure, or for the promise of the destruction of evil.

Disadvantages

Childhood Crush [-6]
Treat this disadvantage as a Dependent (Equal Power, Loved One, Almost All the Time) [-6] (B131) with any one of Ameiko Kaijitsu, Sandru Vhiski, Koya Mvashti, or Shalelu Andosana. Your must choose one of these four when choosing this disadvantage. Gender is not an issue for this particular connection.

Foster Child [-6]
For whatever reason, Koya Mvashti has been your foster parent for a significant portion of your life. Treat this disadvantage as a Dependent (Equal Power, Parent, Almost All the Time) [-6] (B131).

Student Survivalist [-6]
Shalelu has effectively been one of your older or younger siblings. Treat this disadvantage as a Dependent (Equal Power, Sibling, Almost All the Time) [-6].

Deathbed Promise [-5]
You had made a promise to Niska Mvashti as she was near to death that you would accompany her daughter, Koya, if she ever went on a long trip. Treat this disadvantage as a Vow (Promise) [-5].

Hero Worship [-5]
You worship one of Ameiko Kaijitsu or Shalelu Andosana as your hero as a result of something they did for you at some point in your life. You must choose one of these two when you take this disadvantage. Treat this as an Obsession [-5] (B146).
