A Fortnight Passes: After Nualia’s Fall

"A silly game at The Rusty Dragon."

A silly game at The Rusty Dragon.

Leaving the confines of the cursed halls of Thistletop, you are hailed by the fellow ranger Shaelulu. She is present, armed, and ready to fight along with four armed guards that you may recognize from Sandpoint. When they see Nualia drooping in Darius’ arms, they are nonplussed and do not quite know what to do. They stared, almost unbelievingly. After exchanging your share of the story, the mood drastically changes and the adrenaline saturating the air drops. Losing an ally is never easy.

After verifying your claims, the guards escort you back to town; a cart is available and you stash the loot you found there. Nualia is placed into manacles and Orik pledges himself to the service of the Sandpoint guard. It appears all of you had quite an effect on him. Bouts of sacrifice and selfless heroism were passed along that day.

The arrival to Sandpoint was not quite as morbid an affair as you would have liked it to be, what with the recent death and constant struggle to escape with your lives, but when the villagers caught sight of your charge, many people immediately recognized the once-citizen and child of the past Father. Screams of joy, of shock, and tears were shed all around.

Two weeks pass since the infiltration and successive coupe of the Thistletop tribe and the scheming of the aasimar Nualia. The goblin menace facing Sandpoint was finally dealt with and Nualia has been taken under the custody of Sarenrae follower Darius, relative to the local Kaijitsu family. Shaelulu has reported that the other goblin tribes around Sandpoint have since fallen into bickering and are beginning to resume their normal operations. Furthermore, the Thistletop tribe has fallen apart by the seams with its greater barghest, the true ruler behind the curtain, slain at the hands of our fellow Heroes.

The only notable events in these two weeks are small in number but no less individually significant. Orik Vancaskerkin, a mercenary you found and managed to convince to not fight you, has entered into the service of the Sandpoint Guard. With the absence of anything to truly challenge him, or so he has been boasting, the poor man has been found drowning in the cups at The Hagfish. It does not appear that the honest man’s work is up this man’s alley.

Conall had been healed of his disease, of which he contacted at Thistletop, very soon after the party’s return to Sandpoint. The disease was identified as tetanus, a cruel and not very pleasant ailment, but this was no difficult feat for the Desna priest of Sandpoint’s cathedral. When news of his injury was spread through the town, a very nonplussed Conall was soon the victim of a very worried Shayliss, the general store’s daughter, who cried in his arms for several hours before being carried off by her grumbling father. Shayliss had tried several times again, with no success, to get Conall to come back with her to clear her basement of rats.

Marco’s reputation at The Pixie’s Kitten, Sandpoint’s local brothel, has shot through the roof with the Heroes’ recent escapades and the poor rogue has been booked out to the services of many a single and not-so-single women in town.

Leica, on the other hand, took time these two weeks to seek out an old friend of hers, a teacher. The man was a Thassilonian expert and a town recluse, but seeing his old pupil had managed to erupt grins from both parties when the two of them met again. Curiously, the young wizard had also begun to lose track of a few minor items on her person. For instance, the purple vase which she had purchased not so long ago seems to have disappeared from her room. Similarly, a few of her tunics have also been, mysteriously, misplaced.

Somewhere in the middle of these two weeks, the town was put into a bit of a panic when a lost goblin snake washed up ashore at the harbor. Orik managed to have a moment of temporary fame when he was the one to arrive at scene and chop its head clean off its head. It is here that Orik had an encounter with Shayliss and this has appeared to have played a prelude to a fluorishing relationship, despite her father’s disapproval. He was seen sporting a grin for many days since.

A very different sort of relationship has begun between Darius and the aasimar who had caused so much trouble recently. Nualia, first adamently opposed to her presence in the town that served as her anathema, has since become extraordinarily docile in sight of the dutiful presence of the paladin as she is confined in your room at The Rusty Dragon. Whatever part of her that was embracing wrath and anger has slowly seeped away and left her without purpose. Nualia is not completely convinced that Darius, or the other Heroes, wish to help or befriend her, but she seems to have ceased any true hostility, instead accepting of her new lifestyle as a prisoner for her crimes.

It is very recently that the Sheriff of Sandpoint had returned with a company of guards from Magnimar, the fortnight which he forecasted having finally elapsed, and with his arrival a wholly different omen has appeared. It seems peace is not quite at hand.

A grim-faced, sullen, Sheriff Hemlock has come to find you once again. He seems to wish to take you all into his confidences again in light of recent events regarding a string of murders he wishes to keep quiet. The murders of the Late Unpleasantness are not entirely forgotten and these new murders are eerily familiar.

As the next module starts, the in-game time, as it stands, is Lamashan 11Oathday (equivalent to Thursday; see appropriate post about time in Golarion).
