Called Shots: Refinement and Elaboration

Principles of martial combat can be an art all of its own.

Principles of martial combat can be an art all of its own.

I have decided to seamlessly integrate try integrating Called Shots into the Rise of the Runelords campaign I am running. In order to better accommodate this, I’ve decided to take inspiration from GURPS and flesh out a random hit location table based on the body parts identified in Ultimate Combat and using 3d6 as a random roll.

3d6 Location Difficulty
3 Ear Challenging
4 Eye Challenging
5 Neck Challenging
6 Head Tricky
7 Leg Easy
8 Chest Easy
9 Chest Easy
10 Chest Easy
11 Arm Easy
12 Arm Easy
13 Leg Easy
14 Hand Tricky
15 Hand Tricky
16 Head Tricky
17 Vitals Challenging
18 Heart Challenging

Whenever an attack hits an enemy, this table will be referred to. Players or enemies can deliberately target a certain part and take the appropriate penalty as usual.

One Response to Called Shots: Refinement and Elaboration

The vitals are smaller than the head? I guess that they are about the same size, and the head just tend to be more in the way.
