I am currently one of Three Donald Hill Postdoctoral fellows at Dalhousie University. I am working with Dr. Luis Torgo in the Faculty of Computer Science on imbalance learning problems and applications in health and medicine. As part of the fellowship, in addition to exploring our individual interests in our respective faculties of Computer Science, Health and Medicine, and Arts and Social Science, together we aim to explore questions related to the impact science and technology on society.
I get considerable enjoyment from active sports, such as running and cycling and cross-country skiing. During the summer and autumn months, the roads and trails of the National Capital Region used to be my second home. I have also taken part in numerous marathons and Olympic triathlons. I am currently a Category 4 cyclist with the Edmonton Road and Track Club, and have taken part in a number of races around Alberta. As someone who loves the outdoors, I enjoy heading to the Rockies for cycling and hiking.
I enjoy travelling and exploring new cultures. I previously spent over a year traveling and teaching ESL in South East Asia. I also enjoy cooking and sampling cuisines from around the world. Reading, both fiction and non-fiction, is a passion of mine. I am also keen on world politics, foreign affairs and economics. Music is something I love, especially indie-rock, punk and folk.
