ECMM 6000 - Current Events Presentation

[ Home | Calendar | CEP | Project ]

The Current Events Presentation (CEP) is a 10-minutes presentation by each student, followed by up to 5 minutes of discussion. You need to chose a topic of current interest, relevant to E-Commerce, and present it in class. There will be tentatively one CEP presentation per class, starting in October. Please check the course calendar page and look for slots marked as "CEP-01", "CEP-02", etc. Please choose your preferred date and time slot in the course calendar page, and send me an e-mail so I can reserve it for you. Use the email subject line "ECMM6000 CEP Presentation Slot". The slots are reserved based on first-come-first-served basis, based on incoming emails. Please try to reserve your slot at least one week before the presentations start. After this date, I will assign arbitrarily slots to unassigned presentations.

The presentation will take place at the beginning of the class, followed by a short class discussion.

The intent of the presentation is to allow students to go through a short exercise in research and briefly present their findings, on an e-commerce related topic. You should choose a topic related to the current issues shaping the direction of e-commerce.

You need to submit to the instructor the topic and the slides at least 24 hours before presentation by email, with the email subject line "ECMM6000 CEP Slides CEP-nn" where CEP-nn is your slot number. If you want, you can share the slides with the class before the presentation by sending them to the class email list.

The mark for presentation is 5% of the final mark, and the evaluation guidelines are as follows:

Regarding the topics, you are encouraged to send the topic to the instructor as early as possible, to check that the topic is appropriate. Case studies from the textbook are generally good topics for discussion, but you are encouraged to find a topic independently.

Some of the CEP topics used in previous years are:
