Dr. Saurabh Dey, widely known as Dr. Dey, is an Instructor in the Faculty of Computer Science at Dalhousie University. His academic interests center on the advancement of teaching practices in higher education, with a focus on experiential, inclusive, and student-centered learning. His research explores pedagogy, online course design, learner engagement, and the alignment of instructional modules to enhance learning outcomes.

At the heart of Dr. Dey’s approach is a simple philosophy: bring the real world into the classroom and design learning experiences that make every student feel they belong.He is deeply committed to bridging the gap between theoretical learning and real-world application, ensuring students gain not only knowledge but also practical insight. He believes in optimizing cognitive load and creating a welcoming environment, particularly for learners navigating academic life from diverse geographical and personal contexts.

Dr. Dey holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science, with a research specialization in Mobile Cloud Computing Security applied to smart city applications, including traffic monitoring, filtration, and authentication systems. His academic pursuits also extend to traffic data analysis, secure communication in IoT environments, and advanced data processing techniques. His broader research interests encompass cluster analysis, natural language processing (with a focus on text summarization, categorization, and sentiment analysis), as well as cognitive architectures that model intelligent behavior.
