Amilcar Soares is an assistant professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He was a research associate at the Institute for Big Data Analytics and an Adjunct Professor at Dalhousie University. His research interests include spatiotemporal data enrichment, segmentation, classification, clustering, and visualization. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Federal University of Pernambuco. He has been involved in several research projects funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO), Transport Canada (TC), and Defence Research and Development Canada Atlantic (DRDC Atlantic).
