The bandwidth problem

Most commonly used for media promotion

Used for graphically demonstrating information that is either:

a) To complex to simulate using software
b) Not applicable to software reproduction (interviews, news footage etc)

Streamed audio not suitable for an international audience

Subtitles introduce new problems

Sound may be used to good effect:

Mood-setting

Redundancy information (additional feedback to user)

Delivery:

On average, users will not wait longer than 15 seconds for a response from the server

Direct manipulation requires <0.1s response

Processing data: >1s for the user to feel he/she is waiting for the computer
