'Usability' a buzz word, a little hazily defined

From Eason (1984), the:

"... major indicator indicator of usability is whether a system or facility is used ... It is the [user's] act of choice which is the essence of usability which suggests that the crucial measure [of usability] is the pattern of [the user's] responses to options and the way ...[these responses] build into a learning or non-learning strategy."

Not uncommon for functionally capable applications to be under-used because of poor usability
