These instructions are for short papers only.
Instructions for full paper authors are here.
Thank you for participating in the HT '02 (ACM sigWeb 2002 Conference on Hypertext and Hypermedia) Proceedings. This webpage will acquaint you with the submission of your poster, demo, or tutorial, the required fields, how and where to submit your signed ACM Permission Release Form, and how and where to submit any reviewed external materials.
Please read this entire webpage. Submissions that do not conform to the ACM standards and formats will be returned to the author for corrections or alterations.
All ACM sponsored proceedings will be included in the ACM digital library as well as prepared for printed publication. All papers for the conference must be submitted in an electronic format which conforms to ACM specifications. There is a 2-page maximum on your poster, demo, or tutorial descriptions.
(Instructions for full and short paper authors are here.)
Your electronic submission is due on or before April 19, 2002.
Templates for you to prepare your article (using LaTeX, Word, or FrameMaker) are available from the ACM. You can get the templates from http://www.acm.org/sigs/pubs/proceed/template.html. Important details about how to use those templates are in the templates section below.
The following sections in all of the ACM templates are mandatory sections and should be filled in properly by the authors:
We need your original source file (.doc, .fm or .tex), so we can extract text and data to produce information and metadata for ACM's digital library.
LaTeX users may also submit high-quality PDF files (generated with pdflatex) or Postscript but still need the original source file.
FrameMaker users must submit both Postscript and original source files.
Be sure that your .ps file is formatted for American Letter (8.5×11 inches).
Submissions that do not conform to the ACM standards and formats will be returned to the author for corrections or alterations.
All authors must submit a signed ACM Permission Release Form. If you cited external material (such as a QuickTime video or Flash presentation) in your submission then that material should be submitted by FTP too.
Check that you have no widowed or orphaned lines (i.e., the last line of paragraphs should not be at the top of a column or a new page). If you do then either tighten the previous column or force a line over.
Section and Sub-section heads should remain with at least two lines of body text when near the end of a page or column.
Templates are available for the following three programs that you may use to prepare your submission for the proceedings.
LaTeX users may submit either high-quality PDF files (generated with pdflatex), Postscript files, or both. You must use the ACM's option#2--sig-release class file (sig-alt-full.cls).

Please include all text (including references from the .bbl file) into one complete .tex document.
We want only one file with all of your text from your submission, not a directory of files. We do not need the figures. We are not recompiling your submission, only using the one source file to extract text and data that we need to make the metadata for ACM's digital library.

ACM requires your original signatures from each author on a hardcopies of the xACM Permission release form. The poster (or demo or panel) title must be filled in at the top and signed at the bottom. Be sure that the title on the form matches the title on your submission otherwise a new form will be requested. A form is needed from each author and must be received by April 19, 2002. Send the completed forms to:
Sheridan Printing Co.If you print this form and send it in, when your article is accepted, you do not have to send it via an express carrier -- regular post or airmail should be sufficient.
If you cited external material (such as a QuickTime video or Flash presentation) in your submission then that material was reviewed along with the submission itself. Please submit a copy of the external material by FTP so the material may be permanently hosted at the ACM sigWeb website.
Your external material must be placed in the directory named for your submission (for example p123-smith, as above). You will not be able to change any files after they are submitted.
If you have questions about the submission of external material then please contact Jamie Blustein (by e-mail, at jamie@cs.dal.ca with HT'02 at the start of the Subject line, or by telephone at +1 902 494-6104).
If you still have questions or problems about the submission of articles (but not external material) please contact me, by phone (at +1 908 213-8988) or by email (at typedept@fast.net with the conference name (HT'02) in the subject line).
Thank you again for participating in this conference and I look forward to receiving your materials in a timely manner.
Sincerely,
Lisa Tolles-Efinger
