I am presently enrolled in the Master of Electronic Commerce
Program at Dalhousie University, Halifax. I also hold a Bachelor
Of Science Degree in the fields of Computer Science and Mathematics
(Upper Second Class Honours) from the University Of The West
Indies Cave Hill Campus, Barbados.
Upon leaving the University in June 2000 I was employed
at CCS Information Technology Limited, one of the leading
IT firms in the Caribbean, in the capacity of Technology Research
Assistant with the Regional Education Solutions Unit. During
my time there I was actively involved in the redevelopment
of the ccsedu.com website which is the premier educational
resource for the Caribbean. This involved the change over
from static to a more dynamic environment by the use of tools
such as ASP, JavaScript and the full use of the Macromedia
suite of products. In addition to this, I was part of the
implementation team for the Education Sector Enhancement Programme
of the Government of Barbados. This support included the training
of teachers and students in the use of the new technology
to be implemented in the schools in particular the development
of the wireless classroom and Internet-based technologies.
I am one of the co-authors of "Caribbean Education Online
Development Plan" which represents the blueprint for a large-scale
net centric online educational community for the Caribbean
and the wider region. Currently I was also part of the research
team for the PAHO sponsored "A Guide to the Integration of
Solid Waste Management into the School Curriculum" which is
part of a local and regional initiative at promoting health
and family life education.
At Dalhousie as part of my Masters program, I undertook research
in the area of network security evaluating network-based intrusion
detection systems, both commercial and open-sourced. This
provided me with hands-on experience in setting-up and fine-tuning
these security systems for Linux machines. My research was
accepted to the 6th International Conference on Electronic
Commerce Research where I presented my paper.
