Remote Chess
Remote Chess displays a chess board which enables moves to be made by
tapping the screen. The opponents can view the moves and board status on
their screen over the internet and respond with their own chosen moves.
SETTING THE GAME NAME
The first step is to choose a name for your game. This must be the
same as
the name entered by your opponent. Both of you enter this name in the
white text box at the lower center of the screen, then tap the button Save
Name. From then on, that name will automatically be shown in the text box.
NOTE: If you are just playing a subsequent game with the same
opponent,
you can just re-use the same name.
MAKING A MOVE
First tap the piece you wish to move. that square should then show a
pale
green shade. Te black button on the left side of the row at the bottom of
the screen will then read Half Way. Next tap the destination square, which
will then show in red. The black button at the bottom with then display
Save Move. tap this button to complete your move.
GO BACK BUTTON
If you realize part way through that you do not really want to make
that
move, complete it anyway and then tap the Go Back button in the bottom row
to return to your previous state. Then re-make the proper move.
REFRESH BUTTON
This version of the app does not automatically update the screen after
your opponent has completed their move. You must tap the Refresh button at
the lower left to check if their move has been completed. The board
positions will update and the black box to the right of Refresh will then
display whose move it is, and therefore acknowledge that your opponent has
completed their move.
NEW GAME BUTTON
The New Game button restarts to a new game. If you tap it by mistake,
you
can use the Go Back button to return to your previous game in progress.
CASTLING
To castle, just move the King two squares and tap Save Move. The Rook
will
automatically move to the correct square.
EN PASSANT
This version of the app does not handle the somewhat obscure 'en
passant'
move so you will have to do it manually in two steps. To delete a piece
you can just pick a blank square as the piece to move and the piece to be
deleted as the destination square.
