Welcome to Introduction to Databases
Fall 2007

 

This course offers you the opportunity to gain basic skills in areas such as database design, Access, and SQL (Structured Query Language), which is the basic and universal DB programming language.  Learn the basic concepts of DB design from requirements analysis to the DB design at the logical and physical levels.  Learn the key concepts of SQL and how to read and write simple and complex SQL statements to manipulate the DB and retrieve information you need.  Gain hands on experience in applying the concepts you learn using Databases Management Systems (DBMSs) such as Access. 

 

Objective

Upon completion of this course, the student should understand and be able to apply the basic concepts of DBMS and SQL. The student will gain hands-on experience using a DBMS, such as ACCESS and ORACLE, and be able to design, create, manipulate and query tables, and create customized reports and forms.
