Web-Centric Computing
Course Description:
The main objectives of this course are listed below; we are going
to discuss them as time permits:
(i) To give an understanding of how interactive client-server web
applications of medium size can be built;
(ii) To explore the significance of web design and development
concepts from the perspective of the web robots (for search engines), and
end-users;
(iii) To explore the architecture of a three-tier web site, and
discuss each tier of the architecture as well as the accompanying
performance trade-offs;
(iv) To introduce text analysis, search, link analysis, and web
log file analysis;
(v) To introduce WWW caching and proxy techniues;
(vi) To discuss security issues and strategies for a web-based
application;
(vii) To discuss future directions.
