Electroencephalographic (EEG) Data Acquisition Script
(Using Biosemi System)

1) Explain procedure to subject and obtain signed consent to participate.
2) Fill syringes with electrolyte gel.
3) Measure head size to determine which cap to use.
4) Have subject adjust chair to appropriate height.
5) Place double-sided tape on ocular and mastoid electrodes and fill them with gel.
6) Administer alcohol to ocular and mastoid electrode sites to reduce impedence.
7) Attach ocular and mastoid electrodes to appropriate locations.
8) Place cap on head, ensuring the tag is not blocking electrode Iz.
9) Measure from earlobe to earlobe and nasion to inion to ensure Cz is centered properly.
10) Attach velcro straps and ensure cap is snug, but not uncomfortable.
11) Fill all electrode wells with electrolyte gel using syringes. Carefully part hair with syringe tip; subject should feel cold on scalp when gel is administered.
12) Insert the 64 electrodes into the electrode wells.
13) Be very careful not to bridge the CMS/DRL common reference electrodes with proximal sites PO3, POz and PO4.
14) Wrap CMS/DRL cable around others, plug in the electrode connectors, and tape wires to chair.
15) Open Actiview software on the acquistion computer and load appropriate configuration file.
16) Click on the offset tab and ensure all impedences are kept below +/- 25 microvolts (preferably below +/- 10 microvolts).
17) Recursively remove electrodes and apply more gel to sites with high impedence.
18) Check to ensure activity at all sites looks 'normal' (i.e., no drifting beyond adjacent sites, no high frequency oscillations, no intermittent spiking).
19) Open experimental program on stimulation computer and explain instructions to subject.
20) Close door, turn off light, start saving the EEG data, and instruct subject to begin.
